British mezzo-soprano Verity Toulson is a 21-year-old undergraduate in her fourth year of the Bachelor of Music programme at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she studies under the guidance of Robert Alderson and Harry Sever. She has been awarded a scholarship to study for a Master of Music at the Royal Northern College of Music commencing in September 2026.

Her operatic experience includes performing in the chorus for Errollyn Wallen’s Dido’s Ghost, as well as scenes from Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice and Vincenzo Bellini’s La Sonnambula. She most recently appeared as Dritte Dame in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte scenes and performed the role of Nereidi in Claudio Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria.

Verity has performed at several prestigious venues, including Sadler's Wells Theatre, Blackheath Halls, Old Royal Naval College, St Bride's Church, and the Edinburgh Society of Musicians, where she presented a Lieder recital followed by a post-performance interview.

She has a particular passion for Lieder, drawn to its intimate relationship between text and music. Alongside her vocal work, she is a charcoal abstract artist. Her visual practice serves as a direct interpretation of the music she performs, translating sound, text and emotional atmosphere into expressive monochromatic form. Limited edition prints are available via this website and at selected recitals.
